    Merit Cum Means based Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses for Minority students

    Objective

    The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses.

    Conditions for scholarship

    • Financial assistance will be given to pursue graduate level or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution. Course fee and Maintenance allowance will be credited/transferred directly into the bank account of selected students.
    • Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical /professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship.
    • Students who get admission in technical / professional courses without taking any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
    • 30% scholarship is ear marked for girls students of each minority community in a State /UT which is transferable to male student s of that community in case of non – availability of female students in that community in the concerned State /UT. 30% is the floor and not the ceiling for eligible girl students.
    • Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
    • A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course.
    • The annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.
    • The Income Certificate would remain valid for One Year.

    Procedure for applying

    • The scheme is implemented through National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website of this Ministry i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in .
    • The list of documents to be scanned & uploaded for both Fresh and Renewal Scholarships as under:
      • Student Photo. (Mandatory)
      • Institution Verification Form. (Mandatory)
      • Self declaration of Income Certificate by the student. (Mandatory)
      • Self declaration of community by the student. (Mandatory)
      • In case of Fresh: Self Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Academic Mark sheet’ as filled in Form. (Mandatory)
      • In case of Renewal: Self – Attested Certificate of Previous Year Mark sheet as filled in the Form. (Mandatory)
      • Fee Receipt of current course year. (Mandatory)
      • Proof of Bank Account in the name of student. (Mandatory)
      • Aadhaar Card

    CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child for +2 studies

    Objective

    The objective of CBSE merit scholarship scheme is to provide scholarships to the meritorious Single Girl Students, who are the only child of their parents; and have passed the CBSE Class X Examination with 60% or more marks/grades and are continuing their further school education of Class XI and XII. The scheme is aimed to recognize the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and to provide encouragement to meritorious students.

    As per the approval of the Competent Authority dated 23.07.2012, all children born together are Single Girl Child of their parents.

    Allocation of scholarship

    The number of scholarships for a particular year shall be variable and shall to awarded to all such “Single Girl Students” who have secured 60% or more marks in the CBSE Class X Examination in that year.

    Eligibility criteria

    The scholarship shall be given on the basis of merit list as stated above, from the result of CBSE Class X Examination. The eligibility criteria shall be as under:

    • All Single Girl Students, who have secured 60% or more marks/grades in CBSE Class X Examination and are studying Class XI & XII in School (affiliated with CBSE) whose tuition fee is not more than Rs. 1,500/-p.m. during the academic year, shall be considered for the purpose. In the next two years, the total enhancement in tuition fee in such school shall not be more than 10% of the tuition fee charged
    • The scholarship shall be awarded to Indian Nationals only.
    • Candidates who have passed CBSE Class X Examination will be considered.
    • A Scholar under the scheme while availing scholarship can enjoy other concession(s) given by the school in which she is studying or other organization(s).

    NOTE: NRI applicants of the Board are also eligible for the award. The tuition fee for the NRIs has been decided maximum of Rs. 6,000/- per month.

    Duration of scholarship and its renewal

    • The Scholarship awarded shall be renewed for a period of one year i.e.successful completion of class XI.Renewal shall also depend on promotion to the next class provided the scholar secures 50% or more marks in aggregate in the examination which determines her promotion to next class.
    • The renewal/ continuation of the scholarship, in cases where a scholar gives up the chosen course of study before its completion or if she changes the school or course of study shall be subject to prior approval of the Board. Good conduct and regularity in attendance are required for continuance of scholarship. The decision of the Board shall be final and binding in all such matters. A Scholarship once cancelled shall not be renewed under any circumstances.

    Rate of Scholarships and mode of payment

    The rate of scholarship shall be Rupees Five Hundred (Rs. 500/-) per month. A Scholarship awarded under the scheme shall be paid for a maximum period of two years. Payment will be made through ECS/NEFT.

    Selection Procedure

    • Student should have passed Class X Examination from the CBSE and secured 60% or more.
    • Pursuing Class XI & XII from CBSE affiliated Schools.
    • Student should be ONLY SINGLE GIRL CHILD of their parents.
    • Original Affidavit duly attested by the First Class Judicial Magistrate/ SDM/ Executive Magistrate, as per prescribed format available on the Board’s website. (Photocopy of Affidavit will not be accepted).
    • Undertaking should be attested by the School Principal from where the student is pursuing Class XI after passing Class X from Board’s Examination.
    • Tuition fee should not be more than Rs. 1,500/-per month in Class X and 10% enhancement for Class XI & XII.

    Guidelines for a fresh / renewal of Online application

    The last date for submission of online applications for 2019 is 18th October, 2019 and hard copy of application form (renewal only) has to be submitted on or before 15th November, 2019. Hard copies received after the last date shall not be entertained.

    Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

    Objectives

    To provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low income families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.

    Scope

    This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the results of senior secondary examinations. 82000 fresh scholarships per annum (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls) will be awarded for graduate/post graduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as Medical, Engineering etc.

    Eligibility

    Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream for a particular Board of Examination, in class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent and not belonging to the creamy layer as defined by the Department of Personnel and Training in their Notification No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(Res), dated 9th March, 2004 and as may be further modified from time to time, pursuing regular courses (not correspondence or distance mode) from recognized educational institutions and not availing of any other scholarship scheme, would be eligible for consideration this Scheme. This is applicable to all categories of students both ‘General’ and ‘Reserved’.

    Students belonging to reserved categories/ weaker sections/minorities are eligible on the basis of merit, subject to Central Reservation Policy and internal earmarking . The scholarship would be available to students belonging to ‘non – creamy layer’. As per the latest guidelines on the subject, the income – ceiling for ‘non – creamy layer’ is Rs.  6 lakhs per annum. At present, reservations for the various categories are as follows – SC 15 %, ST 7 .5 %, OBC 27% and horizontally 3% for Physically Handicapped in all the categories.

    Selection procedure

    The examining bodies will draw up a merit list of scholars likely to be eligible for scholarship within five weeks after the results of the examinations announced by the Boards/Universities/Authority for all students. The income of the student’s parents will be taken into account before preparing the list.

    The Boards/Universities/Authority in the State / Union Territory will write to the eligible students from the top of the merit list up to twice the number of scholarship available ( to provide for possible refusal and ineligible cases) through registered letter to confirm within 15 days whether he /she is prepared to accept the scholarship.

    The candidates from whom the replies are not received within 30 days of the State Board/ CBSE / ICSE seeking their willingness will not be considered for scholarship and the ward will be given to the next eligible candidates in the merit list. The Board/Universities in the State /Union Territory will send to each candidate shortlisted for consideration for award of scholarship the following

    • Entitlement card
    • Income Affidavit form
    • A form for ‘Statement of Particulars’.

    The shortlisted scholar shall present the above details duly filled-in to the Head of the Institution joined by him/her. The Head of the Institution will complete the Entitlement card and sent it to the concerned State Board, CBSE, ICSE as the case may be.

    Rate of scholarship

    The rate of scholarship would be Rs. 1000/ – per month at Graduation level for first three years of college and university courses and R s.2000/ – per month in the 4 th and 5 th year . The scholarship would be paid for 10 months in an academic year.

    Allocation of Scholarship

    The total number of scholarships will be divided amongst the State Boards based on the State’s population in the age group of 18-28 years, after segregating share of CBSE and ICSE on the basis of number of students passing out from various Boards in the country.

    50% of the scholarships would be earmarked for girls. The number of scholarships allotted to a State Board would be distributed amongst pass outs of the Science Commerce and Humanities streams of the State Board in the ratio of 3:2:1.
